Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has refused to reveal whether or not Ilkay Gundogan will depart the club amidst persistent rumors of a move to Manchester City.
Various German and English publications have caused a stir recently, claiming the Germany international is set to join Pep Guardiola at the English Premier League side next season.
Some reports have even gone so far as to suggest the player had already agreed personal terms with the Citizens, but Tuchel and sporting director Michael Zorc have remained tight-lipped on the subject.
“I can’t confirm the transfer,” the former Mainz boss told Sky Deutschland. “And shouldn’t it be the other way round? We have to announce it.”
Zorc claimed Die Borrusen; “are not interested in giving any water-level reports” and added they would not like to comment on speculation.
Gundogan, who suffered an injury-ravaged campaign last season, has come back strongly for Dortmund this year – scoring three goals and registering seven assists in 39 games across all competitions.
