Atletico draw level with Barca

Atletico Madrid went level with the La Liga leaders Barcelona after they cruised to a 3-0 win over strugglers Granada at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.

Koke’s 15th-minute goal gave the hosts a half-time lead, before Fernando Torres (59′) and Angel Correa (83′) wrapped up victory in the second half to take Atleti level with Barcelona at the top of the standings on 76 points.

Jose Gonzalez saw his side’s winless run in the league stretch to six outings as they sit just one point above the relegation zone in 17th position.

Elsewhere, Athletic Bilbao made it back-to-back wins in the league as Raul Garcia’s 54th-minute goal secured a 1-0 victory over Malaga at La Rosaleda.

Los Leones climbed above Celta Vigo into fifth place, six points shy of the top four, while Javi Gracia’s team remain eighth, a massive 12 points off European qualification.

Sevilla’s European hopes suffered another blow after they played out to a 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Los Rojiblancos looked on course to snap a three-match losing streak in the league after Vicente Iborra gave them the lead midway through the first half, but Oriol Riera struck for the visitors nine minutes from time to earn a share of the spoils.

The Andalusians trail seventh-placed Celta by four points in eighth with five matches left to play, while Depor are nine points clear of the relegation zone in 12th spot.

Meanwhile, Villarreal suffered a European hangover as they went down 2-1 to struggling Rayo Vallecano at Campo de Vallecas.

The Yellow Submarine booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals in midweek after seeing off Sparta Prague in the last-eight, but found themselves trailing to Javi Guerrato’s opener after just seven minutes.

Adrian restored parity for the hosts on 20 minutes, although they conceded again nine minutes from time as Miku headed home from close to the penalty spot to clinch victory for Los Franjirrojos, who pulled five points clear of the bottom-three.
