Barcelona forward Luis Suarez admits he’d love a return to Ajax Amsterdam before he retires from professional football.
The Uruguayan made his name at the Eredivisie giants, scoring 111 goals in three-and-a-half seasons before his £22.8 million move to Liverpool.
Suarez concedes his family loved the privacy and lifestyle of being in Amsterdam, and says he’d be open to re-joining de Godenzonen – provided they’re interested in bringing him back to the Netherlands.
“I will go back to Ajax. That’s always been a wish for me,” he told Helden magazine.
“Sofia (Suarez’s wife) and I still find Amsterdam great, because the people leave you alone. We could quietly walk down the street, that’s sometimes different.
“My wish is to return to the team that made me grow up as a player, which I have become accustomed to Europe and announced myself to Europe. I’m very grateful to Ajax, because I learned a lot. I hope to return one day and I hope they want me back then.”
