He predicted the Champions League clash against VfL Wolfsburg would be “magical” for Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo proved to be right as he notched up another hat-trick.
Having lost the first leg of their quarter-final 2-0 away in Germany last week, the Spanish giants were under pressure to perform at their home ground on Tuesday.
But they delivered with Ronaldo scoring three goals to take them into the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate score.
His first goal came in the 16th minute, 60 seconds later it was 2-0 and the comeback was complete in the 77th minute when his free-kick went through the Wolfsburg wall.
“We were intense and we managed to go through. I said it would be a magic night,” Ronaldo said. “I would like to stick with what the rest of the team have done, they played very well, and of course, the fans who always support us.
“There are always special games in the Champions League. It was a more intense game, more vibrant and that meant a perfect night.”

The treble took Ronaldo to 16 Champions League goals for the season, leaving him just one shy of his record of 17, while he also has 37 career hat-tricks to his name.
“So many hat tricks is not bad is it?” he said. “Goals are in my DNA. And I want to keep scoring them for the team. These things arrive naturally. I do not look for them.
“We will see what happens. I always give my all, people who know me know that. When you put the work in then things come for you. Every day I go to sleep relaxed as I work very hard and I am a professional.”
