There was no separating Granada and Malaga as they played to a goalless draw in a drab Primera Division encounter at Estadio Los Carmenes on Friday night.
There was little in the way of goalmouth action in the first half, with neither side able to finding their shooting boots.
In fact, the only chance of note came after just three minutes of play, with Málaga's Duje Cop seeing his goal-bound header saved in the bottom-left corner by Granada keeper Andres.
Granada duo Youssef El-Arabi and Success Ajayi squandered two later efforts, while Cop and Juanpi failed to find the mark for Malaga.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much of an improvement after the half-time break.
The first real effort on goal eventually arrived on 68 minutes, but Christian Atsu's shot from the left-hand side of the box was saved at the near post by Andres.
The visitors had another chance to break the deadlock just one minute later. However, they failed to capitalise as Recio latched onto a well weighted pass from Atsu before dragging a powerful effort wide from a tight angle.
However, there was a flurry of chances in the final ten minutes as both defences began to tire.
Malaga's Gonzalo Castro fired just wide of the right-hand post, before team-mate Ignacio Camacho headed over the bar with five minutes remaining.
Granada had a chance of their own just moments later, but Ricardo Costa couldn't direct his right-footed shot on target, firing just over from the centre of the box following a cross into the danger area by Cristiano Biraghi.
