Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is planning a January bid for Schalke 04 forward Leroy Sane, according to reports.
The London club missed out on the signing of the Germany U-21 international in the off-season, having freed up some wages with the sale of Roberto Soldado to Villarreal.
They also parted ways with Emmanuel Adebayor recently after agreeing to terminate the Togolese striker's contract.
As such, they have precious few options to lead the line, with the out-of-form Harry Kane currently their only recognised striker.
Sané made his first-team debut for Schalke towards the end of the 2013/14 campaign and was used sparingly the following campaign, making 14 appearances in all competitions and scoring four times in the process.
The Essen-born attacker has featured in all six of his side's Bundesliga fixtures this term while making one appearance in the Europa League.
