Ranieri praises ‘fantastic’ Leicester fans

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has praised the club's supporters, saying their unwavering support has given his team extra motivation to succeed.

The Foxes have confounded pre-season predictions to sit near the summit of the Premier League standings following some impressive displays in their opening six fixtures of the campaign.

Ranieri's men will be targeting another three-point haul when they lock horns with title hopefuls Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

"Here at Leicester there is a fantastic link between our fans and the team," Ranieri told the club's official website. "That is important because when you play at home your fans push you. You give more, 110 per cent.

"They believe in us and we believe in them. They know sooner or later we can lose, but our fans understand that we are doing our best on the pitch.

"That's what I ask the players – to give me the maximum that you have. There is a fantastic passion."

Looking ahead to the clash with Arsene Wenger's Gunners, he added: "We are in good condition and that is good for us, to try to beat them at this moment. But I think also they are also in good condition. They lost a London derby [against Chelsea] and then won a London derby [against Tottenham].

"For us it is important to stay there and try to maintain (the good start), not to think about what they can do. Our fans can dream, we have to stay very calm and work very hard because a defeat is always round the corner."
