Enrique: Barca ‘must learn from defeat’

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique says the team have already put Saturday’s 2-1 loss to rivals Real Madrid behind them, and will look for a response in the Champions League next week.

The Catalan giants looked to be on their way to a 40th match without defeat when Gerard Pique headed home shortly after the restart.

However, Karim Benzema equalised with a superb effort soon after, and although Sergio Ramos was red-carded for Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo was still able to find the winner late on.

The result still left Barca six points clear at the top of the La Liga standings, but Enrique insists they have already moved on.

“What happened can happen in any game,” said the Barca manager.

“We have to go forward and stand up and think about the Champions League. We’re leaders and the one that wins is the most consistent. So far, we are.

“For me, this game no longer exists. What’s left is very important. We have to reinforce what we’ve been doing well and see what can be improved.

“We come from a lot of games without losing but defeat also teaches you things.”
