PSV regain top spot in Eredivisie

PSV Eindhoven went top of the Eredivisie standings after claiming an emphatic 4-2 win over AZ Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion on Saturday.

The visitors raced to a 4-0 lead through goals from Gaston Pereiro (13′), Marco van Ginkel (43′), Luciano Narsingh (60′) and Van Ginkel again in the 64th minute.

However, AZ gave them a bit of scare towards the end of the match as Jop van der Linden (81′) and Muamer Tankovic (84′) pulled goals back, but it proved to be too little, too late, as PSV overtook Ajax, who play their game in hand against Zwolle on Sunday, in top spot in the league.

Elsewhere, goals from Jaroslav Navratil’s 55th minute strike was cancelled out three minutes later by Andreas Ludwig as Heracles and Utrecht played out to a 1-1 draw at Polman Stadion.

Feyenoord thrashed Excelsior 3-0 thanks to a Dirk Kuyt brace and a goal from Eljero Elia at De Kuip to solidify their third position in the Eredivisie standings.

Graafschap and Cambuur played out to a 2-2 draw, while Hakim Ziyech’s 79th minute strike was enough to give Twente a dramatic 3-2 win over relegation-threatened Willem II.
