- Barcelona 2 Leverkusen 1
- Papadopoulos gives visitors early lead
- Roberto with a late equaliser
- Suarez stunner snatches points
Leverkusan came out firing at the Nou Camp, creating plenty of early chances before grabbing the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
After a trying period for the hosts, Barca finally levelled matters via Sergi Roberto, while striker Suarez thundered home the late winner for the Catalan Giants.
The visitors made it clear that they were not over-awed by the occasion at the Nou Camp, as Chichartio forced a good save from Barcelona stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen as early as the second minute.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos struck first for Leverkusen when he headed home Hakan Calhanoglu's swinging corner from just two meters in front of the goal, leaving the keeper no chance at all.
A wonderful solo run from Karim Bellarabi resulted in a powerful shot that almost saw the German club double their lead, but ter Stegen was up to the task.
Neymar would have a chance just before the half time whistle, but his effort would crash into the right hand post.
The Brazilian megastar had a couple more half chances in the second stanza, but failed to convert. One rushed snap-shot would spear off the side of his left boot while his free-kick effort from 35 yards out would miss the right hand post by half a metre.
However, Sergi Roberto came to the rescue for Barcelona, as he scrambled home an equaliser following a rebound off a Suarez strike in the 80th minute.
A top class strike from Suarez just 60 seconds later saw the Nou Camp faithful explode into life. The former Liverpool striker waited patiently just inside the box for a pass from the hard-working Munir El Haddadi before slotting the ball in the top right hand corner.
