Real Madrid midfielder Isco has urged the side to come back from Camp Nou on Saturday with a win to make amends for what happened in the reverse fixture last year.
Barca hammered Los Blancos 4-0 at the Bernabeu the first time the team’s met this season and the league-leading Catalans have gone on to open up a 10-point gap to third place Real to put themselves in the driver’s seat to defend their La Liga title and Isco wants revenge.
“We must vindicate ourselves on Saturday against Barcelona after the bad image that we gave at the Bernabeu,” he told reporters. “I’ll be at my best for the Clasico. I haven’t played much, but I’m not jaded.
“Winning at Camp Nou would be a great morale booster. It’s been a very difficult season and I don’t think that everything is my or James’ fault.
“I was angry with myself after [my substitution] against Las Palmas, but I don’t think I was the first player to have done that.
“We must ensure no-one forgets about us. We’re still alive and one of the teams who can win the Champions League.”
The midfielder’s lack of game time this season has led to suggestions he could be on his way to Juventus during the summer transfer window, but the 23-year-old maintains he is content in Madrid.
“I’m very happy at Real Madrid and I want to see out my contract,” he concluded.
