Bayern München thrashed BVB Dortmund, FC Augsburg were denied a vital win and 1. FC Köln secured an easy victory in Sunday's Bundesliga fixtures.
The day's action started at the Veltins-Arena, where Koln maintained their hunt for a Champions League spot with a 3-0 hammering of Schalke 04. Anthony Modeste had given the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time, before Yannick Gerhardt (79) and Simon Zoller (84) scored late on to lift the side to third in the standings.
Meanwhile, Bayern produced a ruthless display as they cruised to a 5-1 win over Dortmund at the Allianz Arena. Thomas Muller started the goal-fest with an early brace, and although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang managed to pull one back after 36 minutes, Robert Lewandowski score two in 12 second-half minutes before Mario Gotze capped off the rout six minutes after the hour mark.
And finally, FC Augsburg were unable to hold on to their lead after playing out a 1-1 draw away to Leverkusen. A Bernd Leno own-goal after 12 minutes had given the visitors a surprise lead, although Karim Bellarabi managed to restore parity six minutes before the break, while a goalless second-half meant the points would be shared.
