FIGC hoping to change Coppa Italia final date

The Italian Football Federation(FIGC) is hoping to change the Coppa Italia final date set to take place on May 21, as it interferes with the national team's preparations for Euro 2016.

The final between Juventus and AC Milan is set to be played a week after the Serie A campaign has concluded and this has made Italy national team coach Antonio Conte question the decision as he feels it will hinder his preparations for the tournament in France.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has revealed that officials from both the Football Federation and Lega Serie A met on Tuesday in hopes of reaching a compromise regarding the finals, but admitted that it's a very complicated issue, as the League and broadcasters Rai TV have shown no interest in changing the set date.

"There's hope as we are trying [to change the date]," Tavecchio said. "But we shall see, we are taking into account the calendar and there are needs. It's rather complicated.

"We wanted to give our players some rest before having them train with the national team. We would like to note that Maurizio Beretta (Serie A President), who has spoken with the two finalists, does not agree."
