Selangor came from behind twice to beat Sheikh Jamal 4-3 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday in an epic AFC Cup Group E encounter.
With this win, Selangor now occupy third spot in the group, having accumulated four points in their three games thus far.
Sheikh Jamal are yet to win a point and so are in last place in the group.
It was a topsy-turvy 90 minutes.
Just before the half-hour mark, Sheikh Jamal got themselves on the scoreboard courtesy of a low power-shot from Landing Darboe.
A few minutes before the interval, Patrick Wleh scored with his head from a good delivery by Mauro Olivi to square the match for Selangor.
The visitors then went in front eight minutes after the restart when Gopinathan Ramachandra clinically toe-poked Wleh’s cross into the back of the net.
But Emeka Onuoha’s header got the host’s level on 65 minutes.
Only a minute later it was the turn of Sheikh Jamal’s Wedson Anselme to score after a piece of individual brilliance.
Selangor kept pushing though and they hit back when Olivi equalised with 20 minutes remaining.
A blunder from goalkeeper Sahidul Alam then allowed the Argentinean to score the winner for Selangor in the 83rd minute.

“I’m happy to get three points because it was important to keep us running in the AFC Cup,” said Selangor coach Zainal Abidin Hassan to the AFC’s official website.
“We made a lot of mistakes and were punished by Sheikh Jamal. We didn’t produce our normal game because we were under pressure.
“But the players fought back twice when they were down and that is the one good thing about today’s match. We worked very hard and our mission was to keep our campaign alive.”

Sheikh Jamal coach Shafiqul Islam was quick to point the finger at his players after the defeat. He made it clear that he shouldered no responsibility for the outcome.
“We have lost the match not due to any tactical failures, rather due to individual mistakes,” he said.
“I had hopes on my forwards and they delivered. But the defenders and the goalkeeper played sloppy football.”
The two sides will play each other again next month in round four of the AFC Cup.
