Kaya FC of the Philippines face Singapore’s Balestier Khalsa in an AFC Cup clash in Group F at Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila on Tuesday.
After two games, Balestier are on top of the Group F standings with four points, followed by Kitchee of Hong Kong and Kaya on three and New Radiant of the Maldives with one point.
The Philippines side, who are making their debut in the competition, kicked off their AFC Cup group stage campaign with a 1-0 loss against Kitchee in Hong Kong before beating New Radiant 1-0 in Manila in their first ever AFC Cup win.
Kaya look set not to make too many changes to the side that beat New Radiant. Former Azkals captain Alexander Borromeo and Japanese veteran Masanari Omura will no doubt start in the heart of defence.
Forwards OJ Porteria, Jovin Bedic and Kenshiro Daniels are also expected to start while Senegalese attacker Robert Lopez Mendy has been ruled out with an injury.
Porteria is very much the man that makes the Kaya side tick up front and will need to be watched closely by the Balestier defence.
In their opening match of their AFC campaign, Balestier drew 2-2 with New Radiant in Male and unexpectedly won 1-0 against favourites Kitchee in Singapore.
Balestier are likely to be without Ho Wai Loon and Robert Pericic due to injury while Serbian defender Emir Lotinac is touch-and-go after picking up an injury against Kitchee.
The man who will play a big role for Kaya is star defender Sheikh Abdul Hadi who will be charged with marking Kaya dangerman Porteria.
