Benitez: The players are good enough

Newly appointed Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is confident that the club will survive relegation from the Premier League this season.

The former Chelsea manager was unveiled as the new head coach on Saturday afternoon following the sacking of Steve McClaren last week.

His first task is to get Newcastle out of the relegation zone with just 10 games to go before the end of the season. The Magpies find themselves in 19th position in the standings, having only managed to register six wins so far this campaign.

The Spaniard says he believes the players in his squad are capable of saving the team and the last 10 games will be very crucial as they battle it out for their topflight status.

"I have to concentrate on these 10 games. I will do my best for us to stay in the Premier League and I am convinced we will," he said.

"I am here because I believe these players are good enough. There are little things that we have to change but we have a good team."
