Yaya City will miss the match against Norwich City while Manchester City are also sweating over his fitness ahead of their Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev.
The midfielder recently missed the league game against Liverpool due to a heel injury, but then returned for the 4-0 victory over Aston Villa last weekend.
However, the injury has returned and will miss the game against the Canaries at Carrow Road on Saturday while he is also in a race to be fit for the second leg of the last 16 Champions League encounter against Kiev.
City have a 3-1 lead ahead of the trip to the Ukraine and manager Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful the injury is not as serious as the one that kept striker Sergio Aguero out for several weeks.
"Yaya Toure has a problem in his heel, he has also the same problem, why he couldn't play against Liverpool," he said.
"We'll see next week how he improves.
"We don't know, we must see. It's a pain in his heel. Sergio had one month ago the same problem. He delays a little bit more, [so] I hope that Yaya can return sooner."
