Lille forward Sofiane Boufal's agent has admitted Tottenham's interest in his client, but denied the Premier League club ever had a bid rejected.
Spurs had been linked with the 22-year-old, who has impressed in the French Ligue 1 this season, throughout the transfer window as a back-up option to Saido Berahino.
There were reports suggesting Mauricio Pochettino had a €16 million offer rejected, but Boufal's agent, Yvan Le Mee, insisted no bid ever arrived, even though Spurs regularly scouted his client.
"You always have to differentiate interest from officials bids," he told Sport Witness. "Of course there is interest from Tottenham and other clubs.
"The Tottenham story was probably written because they’ve seen him more than others and haven’t really tried to hide it, and it’s probably through that that the French media started linking Tottenham.
"There have been no offers, and as his agent, I’d be the first to know if one had been made.
"Lille bought him for €3m, he’s been there just over six months, everyone is happy with him and what he’s doing, but they know it’ll be hard to keep him if he carries on like he is."
