Hertha Berlin v FC Schalke 04

Hertha Berlin welcome FC Schalke 04 to the Oylmpiastadion on Friday night in a battle of third versus fourth in the Bundesliga.

Berlin currently sit in third in the league standings and as a result occupy the final Champions League qualification spot. Schalke are just a point back though, as the race for the highly-coveted spot in Europe’s premier continental competition heats up.

The capital outfit have struggled of late, and have taken just seven points from a possible 15 and enter the fixture on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Hamburger SV. Schalke on the other hand are unbeaten in their last four Bundesliga fixtures and defeated 1. FC Köln last time out.

Berlin will be without Sami Allagui (knee), Julian Schieber (ankle), and Thomas Kraft (thigh) for the match, while Schalke are hard-hit by injuries. Captain Benedikt Höwedes (muscle fibre), Matija Nastastic (Achilles), Marco Höger (knee), Atsuto Uchida (light training), Leon Goretzka (knee), and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (pelvis) will all miss the fixture.

When the two teams met earlier in the season it was Schalke who triumphed, with Max Meyer grabbing a stoppage-time winner
