Singapore side Balestier Khalsa FC defeated Kitchee SC of Hong Kong 1-0 in their Group F match of the AFC Cup played at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore on Tuesday.
The result sees Balestier jump to the top of the group on four points ahead of Kitchee and Kaya who both have three points.
The home side opened the scoring in the 31st minute through Zulkiffli Hassim, who latched onto a low pass from the right by Muhammad Fadhil to score.

Balestier should have increased the lead in the 38th minute when Miroslav Kristic was fouled in the area by Wang ZhenPeng and awarded a penalty, but Wang produced a fine stop to prevent Kristic from converting from the spot.
Kitchee started the match well when Lam Ka Wai, Rufino Segovia and Christian Annan all had chances to score.
But against the run of play Balestier went ahead in the 31st minute when a low cross by Fadhil from the right found Hassim for him to rifle home and make the score 1-0.
Seven minutes later the hosts should have been two goals up but Kristic was denied by decent save from keeper Wang who blocked his penalty kick after he was fouled in the area by the keeper.
In the second half, Kitchee dominated but could not find a way past Balestier goalkeeper Zaiful Nizam.
In the 63rd minute, Hassim should have scored a second goal for the hosts but fired wide with the goal right in front of him.
At the death, Kitchee should have pulled a goal back but Segovia missed his shot from six yards out.
Balestier next travel to Manila to face Kaya in their third AFC Cup group game on March 15, while Kitchee are up against New Radiant at home.
