Willem II legend Co Adriaanse believes his former side plays more attractive football than title chasers Ajax Amsterdam despite Tricolores sitting 15th in the Eredivisie standings.
Adriaanse who's been hailed as cult hero in Tilburg after leading the Dutch minnows to the group stages of the UEFA Champions in 1999, admits he's hopeful of them surviving relegation and blasted Ajax for their rigid style of play this season.
"The current Willem II team are playing to their nickname 'Ajax of the South'," the former Twente boss told Football Oranje.
"They are playing very attractive attacking football their manager Jurgen Streppel is doing well and I hope they stay up.
"With Hupperts, Ogbeche and Anderson they had a good front three, but it's a shame that Ogbeche is injured at the moment.
"By Ajax the sparks are certainly not flying and they are certainly not nice to watch during games," the 68-year old added.
"They are playing far too carefully and they take far too few risks when attacking and they therefore do not concede many goals.
"In general the current style of play by Willem II is much more attractive than Ajax at this current moment in time."
