Guardiola: Kimmich ‘has everything’

Bayern Munchen manager Pep Guardiola has lauded the performance of rising star Joshua Kimmich during the goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The midfielder was called on to play in defence due to a string of injuries at the Allianz Arena, and put in a stellar showing as the Bavarians maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola had nothing but praise of the 21-year-old Kimmich, saying: “Don’t ever say he can’t play in defence. I just love this kid. He has everything. He played an outstanding game today.”

Meanwhile, Bayern captain Phillip Lahm was happy enough to take a point from this weekend’s top-of-the-table clash in Dortmund, saying: “We protected our advantage and that is what is important.

“There are still nine matches left, it is still a long way but it is in our own hands.

“We had a bigger share of the game and in the second half we had the better chances to score. We were better and had the game under control.”
