Napoli managed to come from behind to keep the pressure on Juventus in Saturday’s Serie A action, while Sampdoria also got themselves all three points.
Napoli found themselves behind early on in their 3-1 win against Chievo Verona at Stadio San Paolo, going behind to Nicola Rigoni’s goal in just the second minute of the match.
But Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain continued his fine scoring form to draw them level just just four minutes later in the sixth minute before Vlad Chiriches converted Jorginho’s assist to put them ahead in the 38th minute before Jose Callejon made the points certain in The 70th minute.
Elsewhere in Italy, Sampdoria needed little time to storm into a commanding lead in their 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-standings Hellas Verona at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
Roberto Soriano opened the scoring for Samp as early as the sixth minute, before Antonio Cassano doubled their advantage with an 11th minute strike.
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos then wrapped up the win on the hour mark with the help of Lorenzo De Silvestri’s assist, sending the visitors in at the halftime break with a strong lead that they failed to add to in the second half.
