Bayern München manager Pep Guardiola has played down speculation that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be joining Manchester City next season.
Guardiola will become City’s new manager next season and a number of players from the Bundesliga club, including Neuer, have been tipped to follow him to the Premier League.
However, even though reports suggest that Guardiola wants Neuer to replace City goalkeeper Joe Hart, the 45-year-old has made it clear that this is not the case.
Guardiola added that he wants to see Neuer stay with Bayern for his entire career and become one of the club’s greatest goalkeepers in history.
“Neuer will be the Bayern Munich goalkeeper for the next five, six, seven, eight or nine years if he wants,” Guardiola told reporters. “I hope he will end his career here.”
Neuer has been in spectacular form this season as he has recorded 14 clean sheets in 24 Bundesliga appearances.
