Thailand comfortably beat Vietnam 3-0 in their Group F clash in the joint 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup qualifying match played in Hanoi on Tuesday.
The goals were scored by Krirkrit Thaweekarn in the first half, an own goal by Dinh Tien Thanh in the 56th minute and another by defender Theerathon Bunmathan in the 71st minute.
The opening goal came in the 29th minute when a long range shot by Taweekarn beat Tr%u1EA7n Nguyên M%u1EA1nh in the Vietnam goal to give his side the 1-0 lead, and from there they always looked in control.
Thailand almost doubled their lead in the first half when a free-kick by Pokklaw A-nan hit the bar.
In the 56th minute, Thailand were gifted a goal when Thanh put the ball into his own net from a cross by Thaweekarn to double Thailand's advantage.
Captain Bumathan grabbed the third with a close range shot twenty minutes from time to secure the win.
After four matches, Thailand sit on 10 points to top Group F, ahead of Iraq with five points and Vietnam on four points. Taiwan are bottom of the standings after failing to register a point.
