Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini feels that his side deserved more after their penalty shootout defeat to Juventus in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.
The Nerazzuri entered thre match 3-0 down on aggregate, but a brace from Marcelo Brozovic either side of Ivan Perisic’s strike levelled the scores at 3-3 in the second leg of their semifinal clash with the holders.
The match eventually went to penalties where Juve went through with a 5-3 shootout victory after Rodrigo Palacio missed his spot kick for Inter.
“Above all I feel sad for them as the lads deserved to get to the final,” Mancini told Rai Sport. “It was a wonderful game. I want to congratulate the players on a great performance from the first to the last minute.”
Inter will now shift all their focus to Serie A, with the former Manchester City manager insisting that his players will take courage from their performance at San Siro.
“After being beaten on penalties I expect the team to realise the quality they have and understand that we can go blow for blow with the best,” he concluded.
