Dirk Kuyt has broken yet another Eredivisie record after ending Feyenoord’s horrendous run of seven consecutive losses this weekend.
The former Netherlands international scored in De Stadionclub’s 2-1 win over Utrecht on Sunday to move to 15 goals for the season and become the oldest player to achieve the feat since Faas Wilkes in 1959/60 campaign.
Kuyt now trails PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk De Jong by three goals, the latter leading the scoring charts with 18 goals in 24 league fixtures.
Feyenoord have struggled for form of late but Kuyt’s consistent performances has given manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst hope that his side can still qualify for Europe with a late surge up the table.
Since re-joining the Rotterdam outfit in the beginning of the campaign, the 35-year-old has improved his incredible Eredivisie goalscoring record to 137 goals in 286 games.
