Bournemouth can expect a stern test of their Premier League credentials when a wounded Southampton visit Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Cherries managed to halt a run of back-to-back defeats after playing to a goalless draw with mid-table Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday, while Southampton will still be smarting after a late collapse saw them suffer a 2-1 defeat at the hands of resurgent Chelsea.
A win for Bournemouth would see them earn some breathing room in the bottom half of the table, while Southampton would leapfrog West Ham United into sixth place in the Premier League standings ahead of Wednesday’s round of fixtures.
In team news, Bournemouth remain without the services of injured duo Callum Wilson and Tyrone Mings.
Junior Stanislas is rated doubtful after sustaining a hamstring strain against Watford, while Max Gradel is pushing for a start after making a return from injury as a first-half substitute at the weekend.
The Saints, meanwhile, will hand a late fitness test to hamstring injury victim Shane Long, but midfielder Victor Wanyama misses out again as he serves the third game of a five-match suspension.
