Bayern München boss Pep Guardiola had plenty of positives to take away from his side’s 2-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Having been held to a 2-2 draw by Juventus in the Champions League in midweek, Bayern posted the perfect response as they kept a clean sheet and picked up three points against a determined Wolfsburg outfit.
“All credit to my team. We knew it would be difficult to play in Wolfsburg four days after Juventus,” Guardiola said after the match.
“We started very well, but then didn’t attack resolutely enough. In the second half, the inclusion of Thiago helped us.
“Also, Franck Ribéry was crucial with his quality in one-on-ones.
“The first goal made it a bit easier for us. In addition, Manuel Neuer made some good saves.”
Robert Lewandowski added: “I’m glad we’ve won and that I’ve scored once again.
“We stayed patient. Wolfsburg played very defensively and waited for the one counter-attack. We were the better team.
“It’s not that easy after away matches in the Champions League. We’ve achieved everything we had planned.
“These are three very important points for us.”
