West Ham v Sunderland

West Ham will be looking to get their European challenge back on track when they welcome strugglers Sunderland to Upton Park on Saturday.

Sam Allardyce makes his first return to his former club since becoming manager of the Black Cats; it remains to be seen what sort of reaction he’ll receive.

Allardyce’s side head into the weekend in 19th place, just a point from survival. Jeremain Lens and Duncan Watmore remain sidelined for the visitors who boast an otherwise fit squad.

Last time out the Wearsiders recorded a surprise win over Manchester United, a week after coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Liverpool.

The Hammers, meanwhile, hammered Blackburn 5-1 in the FA Cup last weekend, with fit-again Dimitri Payet stealing the show.

Sam Byram is expected to return, having been cup-tied against Rovers. James Tomkins, Joey O’Brien and Diafra Sakho remain injured, while Winston Reid and Enner Valencia are early doubts ahead of the match.
