Pakhtakor and Al Hilal draw

Uzbek side Pakhtakor drew 2-2 with Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in their Group C match in the AFC Champions League on Wednesday in Tashkent.

In the 60th minute Hilal opened the scoring through Yasser Al Qahtani but 10 minutes later the home side equalised through Igor Sergeev but fell behind again when Yousef Al Salem put the visitors back in front in the 83rd minute. In the 89th minute, Davron Khashimov scored to give his side the draw.

The first half was closely contested but just before the break Sergeev should have scored when he was one-on-one with goalkeeper Khalid Sharahili but was denied by a stunning save.

At the start of the second half Sergeev nearly scored again when his volley went narrowly past the post.

Al Hilal took the lead on the hour mark when Qahtani scored off a Mohammad Al Shalhoub cross from the left side.

Carlos Eduardo nearly got a second goal for Hilal when his shot hit the woodwork from 12 yards out.

Pakhtakor were level in the 70th minute when Sharahili’s attempted clearance fell to Sergeev who scored with a low shot in the bottom corner.

The visitors were back in front with six minutes remaining when Eduardo’s low cross was turned in by Al Salem to make the score 2-1.

In the 89th minute, Khashimov saved the day for his side when he scored with a low shot after receiving a cross from Jamshid Iskanderov to earn his side a point.
