Late goal earns Tashkent draw

Sardor Mirzayev's goal two minutes from full-time rescued a 1-1 draw for Lokomotiv Tashkent in their AFC Champions League Group match against Al Ittihad FC.

Venezuelan forward Gelmin Rivas opened the scoring for the visitors in the 34th minute, and the scoreline remained the same for most of the remainder of the match.

Mirzayev then came to his side's rescue in the 88th minute with an equalising goal for the hosts.

The first half in the Lokomotiv Stadium progressed rather uneventfully, with the only real chance at goal occurring at the midway point of the opening 45 minutes when Mirzaev laid it off to Kakhi Makharadze, but the midfielder's shot cleared the crossbar with ease.

It was Al Ittihad that took the lead 11 minutes before the half-time break, though, when a one-two between Al Muwallad and Rivas played the latter into space on the left of the penalty area and he made no mistake with his finish past Lokomotiv stopper Ignatiy Nesterov.

Al Ittihad continued to have the better of the play after the interval and on the hour mark should have doubled their lead, when Abdulfattah Asiri was found by Sulley Muntari, but his low shot was easily claimed by Nesterov.

The hosts thought they had levelled matters midway through the second half when Makharadze headed in Server Djeparov's corner, only for the 'goal' to be ruled out due to an earlier infringement.

However, in the dying minutes of the match the Uzbek side found the goal they have been searching for when Jasur Khasanov's free-kick from deep was kept in play by Sherzod Fayziev, who then layed it off for Mirzaev he made no mistake with his finish.

Shortly after, Khasanov and Fahad Al Muwallad were both sent off.
