Bayern München striker Thomas Muller has revealed that he chose to stay with the Bavarians despite receiving numerous offers from a host of other clubs.
Muller signed a new deal with Bayern in December and will now remain with the club until 2021, but prior to committing his future to the reigning Bundesliga champions, Muller was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
However, Muller admitted that United were not the only club who were interested in acquiring his services and ultimately, he chose to stay with Bayern due to the fact that they can compete with the best teams in Europe.
“Yes, there were offers from other clubs,” Muller told AZ. “But when you look at the sporting aspect, Bayern are among Europe’s best three clubs together with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“The English clubs obviously have a lot of money, but it remains to be seen whether they can return to the European top. It was an easy decision to sign a contract renewal from a footballing point of view.”
Muller has been in sensational form this season as he has scored 22 goals and notched up 11 assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.
