Levante gave their survival prospects a massive boost after recording a surprise 3-0 victory over Getafe at Ciutat de Valencia on Friday evening.
The hosts made their intentions known early on, with Deyverson twice going close to firing his side ahead inside the opening five minutes of play.
However, they got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 10th minute as Jose luis Morales latched onto a pinpoint pass from Giuseppe Rossi before slotting the ball into the bottom-right corner from the centre of the box.
Getafe renewed their efforts after falling behind but couldn’t find a way past Diego Marino in the Levante goal.
Levante regained control of proceedings as the half wore on and doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time, Rossi converting from the penalty spot after Santiago Vergini brought down Morales in the danger area.
Getafe produced an improved performance after the half-time break, but were unable to reduce the deficit as Levante managed to hold firm in the face of sustained pressure.
The result was eventually put beyond any doubt in the 81st minute as Joan Verdú slotted home from the left side of the six-yard box following some good work in the build up by Morales.
