Bayern München defender David Alaba will wait until the season has concluded before negotiating a contract extension at the Allianz Arena.
Alaba has seen Bayern team-mates Javi Martinez, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller commit their future to the club this season by signing new deals.
However, the Austria international is in no rush to follow suit and intends to focus on matters on the pitch for the next three months before discussing an extension to his current agreement with the Bavarian giants, which still has two years left to run.
“Right now, I don’t waste any thoughts on this,” the 23-year-old told reporters on Thursday. “That’s because I want to focus on what matters now: the current season.”
Alaba has been asked to fill in at centre-back of late due to the injuries suffered by Jerome Boateng and Holger Badstuber.
