Josip Drmic was in the Borussia MG team less than two weeks ago, but following a move to Hamburger SV he is set to face up against his old side on Sunday.
The Swiss striker, formerly of Leverkusen, could be set for his second start for Hamburger in the clash against his former team-mates at Volksparkstadion.
“I will meet old mates and friends again,” he told his new club’s official website. “All of a sudden you face them across the halfway line ready to give your all in order to win. That is special. I am really relishing the game.”
The 23-year-old was less than satisfied with his debut in Hamburg’s 1-1 draw with 1. FC Koln last weekend, but hopes that some more familiarity with his new team, along with his inside knowledge of Die Fohlen, will help his performance.
“I tried to make a mark in my first game,” he continued. “Everyone saw that it went anything but perfectly. I was not satisfied with my performance. Hopefully the next game will be different.
“I have a further week of training under my belt. A week during which I have got to know the team better and they me, and to take the philosophy of the coach on board. I will try to give my all for my new team and put into practise what my coach wants from me.
“We have a couple of days to prepare properly. The performance against Cologne was not ideal, but we have taken some positives from it. We have to perform like we did after the break in that game. That way we can take a further step in the right direction.
“I am flexible in [regard to my favoured position], but of course I prefer to play a central role up front, where I am closest to goal.. The main thing is to be on the pitch and give my all for my team regardless of where I play. The important thing is success. I would even play in goal if I had to.”
