Schalke 04 forward Max Meyer is confident about his side's prospects this season after a good start to the Bundesliga campaign.
The Konigsblauen are currently in third position in the league standings on 19 points after nine games, with six wins, one draw and two losses to their name.
The Gelsenkirchen club have relied on homegrown talent this season, with five academy graduates starting in the 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
Meyer scored the winner in that game and feels Schalke's early-season form has taken the league by surprise.
"We're playing really well," said 20-year-old told the official Bundesliga website.
"The pictures of us all celebrating together on the pitch as a team are great. I don't think anyone saw us winning so many games with such a young side.
"If it carries on like this and we stick together, I think we'll have a good [first half of the season]."
