Barcelona striker Luis Suarez said it was just “one of those days” after he scored four in their 7-0 thrashing of Valencia in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.
The Uruguay international started the scoring in the seventh minute and concluded it in the 88th, bagging four goals alongside yet another hat trick for Lionel Messi in the semi-final at Camp Nou.
“I think we gave one of our most complete performances,” Suarez said. “We played with attitude and intensity from the start and took a good lead.
“I score to help the team win trophies, with a lot of goals if possible, but the most important thing is to keep this good run of form going, which is what we wanted after the Club World Cup.
“We knew that the first halves of our last few games weren’t good enough, and we tried to change it with attitude and effort.
“We were looking for Neymar because he’d missed a penalty. We wanted him to be happy, but he knows goals come in streaks and is happy for the team.”
Barca will head to Mestalla for the return leg of the semi-final next week Wednesday, a match that Los Che won’t be looking forward, but Suarez concluded that “it’s a pretty big lead, but you never know what can happen.”
