Roma have announced the signing of Diego Perotti on loan from Serie A rivals Genoa until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent.
Giallorossi head coach Luciano Spalletti moved for the 27-year-old forward after seeing Gervinho and Seydou Doumbia leave for Hebei China Fortune and Newcastle respectively during the January transfer window.
Perotti was a regular for the Rossoblu this term, starting 14 of their 22 league games, with another two appearances off the bench, although he managed just one goal – in the 1-1 draw against Udinese on October 4.
The Argentine will now spend the remainder of the campaign in Rome after he passed a medical ahead of the transfer deadline.
A statement from the Eternal City outfit read: "AS Roma are delighted to announce the signing of Diego Perotti. The club has reached an agreement with Genoa Cricket and F.C. S.p.A. to take the forward on loan until 30 June 2017 for a fee of €1m.
"The deal includes an option to make the transfer permanent for a fee of €9 million as of the 2017-18 campaign, which will be triggered by certain performance-related clauses."
Perotti added upon signing: "This is a very important step in my career. I'm glad to have joined a great team like Roma."
