Barcelona sporting vice-president Jodri Mestre insists the club did everything possible to try and sign Celta Vigo striker Nolito in January.
The former Barca B player had been linked with a move back to the Catalan club after scoring seven goals in his first nine league games for Celta.
The 29-year-old was one of Luis Enrique’s top targets for the transfer window and Mestre says the club went all out to sign Nolito.
“Barcelona put in all they could, plus even more to try to sign him,” the 53-year-old told reporters at a Mundo Deportivo event.
“There were negotiations and we did make offers and alternative deals more than we could.
“But on the other side, Celta did not give in.”
