On-loan full-back Carl Jenkinson will miss the rest of the season with a 'serious' knee injury in last weekend's draw with Manchester City West Ham confirmed on Tuesday evening.
West Ham co-owner Jack Sullivan tweeted that Jenkinson's injury will rule him out for the remainder of the season.
An official club statement read: "West Ham United can confirm that Carl Jenkinson injured his left knee during the early stages of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League fixture with Manchester City.
"Unfortunately, it appears that Carl has suffered a significant injury and he will be assessed by a specialist in central London on Wednesday," the statement concluded.
Jenkinson, who is on loan from Arsenal, conceded a penalty in the first half, before injuring himself moments later.
The 23-year-old is expected to return to his parent club, while new West Ham signing Sam Byram will fill Jenkinson's boots.
