Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato is reportedly near to completing a six-month loan move to Premier League champions Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports, the 26-year-olf former AC Milan player will move to Chelsea until the end of the current season, although the London club has the option to make the move permanent.
Pato signed for AC Milan from Internacional in 2007 and scored 17 Serie A goals in 43 performances for the Rossoneri. However, towards the end of his spell in Italy he struggled for form following a spate of injuries, and returned to Corinthians in January 2013.
Corinthians loaned out the striker to Sao Paulo for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, where he scored 19 times in 59 matches.
Earlier in the January transfer window, a move to the Chinese Super League seemed on the cards for the player at one point regarded as the most promising young player from Brazil. However, he turned down advances from the East in order to return to Europe.
Pato claimed that an offer from Manchester United late in the summer window, which ultimately fell through.
“Two hours before [the window closed] I had a very good offer from Manchester United,” Pato is quoted as saying by Sportv.
