Leicester face a battle to secure the services of Eder after Sampdoria director of sport Carlo Osti revealed that Internazionale are also interested in the forward.
Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is looking to bolster his attacking options this month in a bid to maintain the club's title push.
Jamie Vardy has bagged 16 goals this season to lead the scoring charts, but Ranieri is keen to lift the burden off his main striker's shoulders.
La Samp have reportedly rejected an offer from the Premier League leaders for Eder, who has scored 12 goals in Serie A this term.
However, Inter have joined the hunt for the Italy international as they seek to replace Shanghai Shenhua-bound Fredy Guarin.
Osti suggested that the Nerazzurri are in pole position to land Eder, with the Genoa outfit hopeful of signing defender Andrea Ranocchia in a makeweight deal.
"Inter want [Roberto] Soriano and Eder, but first they need to understand what is going to happen with Guarin," Osti is quoted as saying by Mediaset.
"We are hoping to finalise a deal for Ranocchia after their Coppa Italia match [against Juventus] on Wednesday."
