Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson says the team is desperate to make up for their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Aston Villa last season by winning the League Cup.
The Reds have a 1-0 advantage going into the second leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final against Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday evening.
Liverpool were in the final four of the FA Cup last season, but suffered a shock defeat to the Villans in front of a packed Wembley Stadium, and Henderson is keen to make amends by lifting his first piece of silverware as captain of the club.
“This is crucial,” he said. “Especially when you think of what happened against Aston Villa last season in the FA Cup semi-final.
“We didn’t do ourselves justice, by any means. It hurt. Not just because of the fact we lost, but because of the way we were beaten.
“We need to get back to Wembley and put that right. We want to taste what it feels like to win a trophy.”
