Bayern München are sweating over the fitness of Jerome Boateng after the defender had to be substituted during Friday night's 2-1 win at Hamburger SV.
The 27-year-old lasted just 55 minutes before being withdrawn with a groin injury, and the German champions will keep a close eye on the defender's recovery over the next few days before placing a timeframe on his recovery process.
"Jerome Boateng is doubtful for FC Bayern's next Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim on 31 January," read a statement on Bayern's official website.
"The centre-back sustained a groin injury in the 2-1 victory away to Hamburg and had to be replaced 55 minutes into the contest. A detailed examination will follow in Munich at the weekend."
Boateng has been almost ever-present for the Bavarians this term, making 17 appearances in the Bundesliga and a further six in the Champions League.
Friday's victory saw Bayern move 11 points clear at the summit of the Bundesliga standings ahead of the remaining Matchday 18 fixtures.
