Former Australian international Brad Maloney has been appointed as the assistant coach of the Malaysian national football team.
The 43-year-old has been involved with Harimau Malaya as an assistant to Ong Kim Swee on an interim basis since September last year, and his appointment has now been made permanent.
"The back room staff play an equally important role … that's why I will rely on the same people who have served me well," Kim Swee told the media this week.
"Besides, it will be easier and more comfortable to work with the same group of tried and tested people."
Maloney has been a Malaysian resident since 2014, when he started working with the country's U23 team.
He represented the Socceroos from 1998 to 2000 and retired as a professional player in 2006.
Malaysia are ranked 170th on the latest FIFA world rankings.
