Yaya Toure is fully focused on Manchester City’s Premier League title bid amid fresh speculation over his future, says Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The Ivory Coast international has just 18 months left on his contract at the Etihad, and his agent Dimitri Seluk has hinted that Toure could move on in the summer.
Pellegrini has not ruled out that possibility, admitting that “you never know what will happen” in football, but he is also convinced that, in the meantime, Toure’s only concern is bringing the Premier League title back to City.
“I don’t want to try to answer to every agent who talks about different things,” Pellegrini told reporters ahead of the trip to face West Ham on Saturday.
“I know what Yaya thinks. I think that Yaya is mentally absolutely involved in this season, and that he is not thinking about his future.
“He wants to continue being the same important player that he has been for this team in other years.”
