FC Groningen and NEC Nijmegen played to a goalless draw in the Dutch Eredivisie on Friday night at the Euroborg Stadium.
The home side started the match by playing attacking football but did not have any clear-cut scoring opportunities.
NEC where the team that came closest to scoring in the first-half with two long shots.
Navarone Foor took a shot after Groningen defender Etiënne Reijnen headed the ball while defending which landed at Foor’s feet but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Sergio Pad.
Then in the 30th minute, Janio Bikel’s shot hit the post for NEC.
In the second half Groningen seemed to wake up, Oussama Idrissi had a shot on goal but was denied by a great save from Brad Jones.
Michael de Leeuw also nearly scored for the home side twice while Anthony Limbombe wasted a golden chance for NEC at the other end.
Groningen remains ninth while NEC moves to joint fourth on the table.
