Leicester v Stoke

Leicester City will be desperate for a win when they welcome Stoke City to the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday ahead of a tough run of fixtures.

Both clubs are fairly unexpected occupants of position in the top eight of the division, with the Foxes especially confounding all pre-season predictions to occupy second place well into the second half of the season.

However, the Foxes are in serious danger of having the bubble burst over the next few weeks after only managing to win one of their last six league games and fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal set to follow the match this weekend.

Squad depth has always been the major concern for Leicester and their surprise bid for the title this season and the backup players were severely shown up in their 2-0 FA Cup third round replay loss to Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, which seemed routine for the North London club.

Despite their apparent shortcomings, the home side will start the match full of confidence going into the match level on points with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and trailing on goal difference alone.

They will also be back to full strength and well rested after star players such as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were rested against Spurs, which presents a daunting prospect for the Potters.

Ritchie de Laet is a doubt for Leicester after picking up a groin injury, while Vardy is likely to start after coming off the bench against Spurs as he continues his recovery from his own groin strain.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes will be hoping to take some momentum from their recent good form into what is likely to be a tough fixture for the visiting team.

The Potters are unbeaten in three league games and won three of their last five, including an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester United and a thrilling last-minute 4-3 victory over Everton.

The Potters were boosted by the return of Xherdan Shaqiri to training this week after recovering from a hamstring injury, while Marko Arnautovic is expected to play a part, albeit from the bench as he is also has a hamstring problem.
