Sevilla are well on their way to reaching the Copa del Rey semi-finals after they beat Mirandes 2-0 in the first leg of their quarter-finals clash on Thursday.
• N’Zonzi makes it 1-0 early on
• Mirandes try to restrict Sevilla
• Vitolo makes it 2-0 in 94th minute
• Sevilla on track for semi-finals
After demolishing Real Betis 6-0 on aggregate in the previous round of the tournament, Sevilla continued to impress against Mirandes and now have one foot firmly planted in the semi-finals.
Sevilla are on the hunt for their first Copa del Rey title since 2010 and kept that dream alive with a clinical display against Mirandes on Thursday.
Having also won 10 of their last 13 matches in all competitions coming into the match, Sevilla flexed their muscle early on and were rewarded with a goal in the 20th minute when Steven N’Zonzi latched on to a pass from Daniel Carrico before slotting it into the back of the net.
While Sevilla looked to finish off their opponents in the first half, Mirandes did well to keep them at bay and were still in contention heading into half-time.
Mirandes continued to deny Sevilla the opportunity to increase their lead and the match was on track to end 1-0 in favour of the hosts before they doubled their lead right at the death as Vitolo got his name on the scoresheet in the 94th minute.
Both sides will meet again for the second leg at the Estadio Municipal de Anduva next Wednesday.
